In 2010, I suffered from a life-threatening illness, brain tumour. Then the nuclear disaster occurred due to the massive earthquake and tsunami. I still remember the fears of the radiotherapy. Brain surgery makes you listless. I could feel all the energy draining out of me. After all I have been through, I only start afresh. Now I am interested in getting the energy back, in other words, “surviving”. The creative process simply lets me empty my mind and confront myself. Perhaps for me, creation may be a sort of meditation technique.

Initially I really wondered how “the things you do unconsciously” could be depicted in my works. Like doodling while talking on the phone, or the way one moves unselfconsciously or while dreaming.
